Post-secondary scholarships

There are many scholarships and bursaries available depending on your home country:

• The Canadian Bureau for International Education lists a number of scholarship and bursary programs for international students.
• The Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships program awards eligible international doctoral students with $50,000 per year for up to three years.

Many post-secondary institutions in B.C. also offer scholarships, bursaries and other financial awards for international students. To find out more about these awards, contact the international education office at the institution where you are seeking to study.

Special post-secondary programs

Mitacs offers unique research and training programs in partnership with companies, government, and the education sector.

• Accelerate
  Graduate-student led industrial research and developmentinternships allow students to transfer their skills from theory to real-world application, while companies gain a competitive advantage by accessing high-quality research expertise.
• Elevate
  Supports recent PhD graduates to work on a joint industry-academia research project for two years. The training program post-doctoral fellows includes class-room instruction and on-site learning.
• Globalink
  Top international students undertake a summer research project under the supervision of a Canadian university faculty member, meet with local entrepreneurs and business leaders and build their professional skills and network. A participant's experience is further enriched with the guidance of a graduate student mentor and a host of meaningful educational and social experiences during their stay.
• Step
  Trains graduate students and postdoctoral fellows in essential interpersonal, project management and entrepreneurial skills required for them to succeed in their future career.
